A Wee Bit of Information on DeAnne

Born for a love of animals and nature, I've never gone long without
some type of animal buddy.  Whether it be a dog, cat, bird, fish,
hamster, bunny...even a salamander...I had to have the company of a
dear pet.

This love eventually led me to volunteer work with a local wildlife
rehabilitation caring for orphaned and injured birds, squirrels,
opossums, bush bunnies, etc.  This experience was very rewarding
when the center was able to release a rehabilitated animal back to
the wild.

I'm also an advocate for pet adoption!

In July of 2004, my husband and I lost our beloved Tippy, a 14 1/2
year old black miniature poodle from heart and lung failure. Like
many who feel any pet is part of their family, we were devastated.
We vowed to not get another dog for a long, long time and even now
we still miss him very much.

Enter Katie!

We adopted Katie, a mixed breed little lass, in October, 2004.  She
had been rescued off the euthanasia truck literally 5 minutes
from being put down.
No one came to claim this little, matted-up girl and her time was up.
I saw her ad and picture on
Petfinders and knew that she had to be
ours!  We completed the adoption application and we were accepted
to be her new family!
She has made our lives whole again.

In 2005, I had done some pet sitting for friends & family and
started getting referrals from them!  I enjoyed it so much that I
decided to start my own pet sitting business.

This was a business that I could tailor just for me and my limits as a
little person.  I accomplished this by having a client base of smaller
pets (small/medium dogs, cats, etc.).
I do, however, make some exceptions for larger breed
dogs. :)

Wee Walkies?
Hmmm..where did that name stem from??

Well... I'm 4'7" ... of Irish and Welsh descent ...
And when I was young I used to watch British dog trainer, Barbara
Woodhouse, Training Dogs the Woodhouse Way on PBS.  Her upbeat,
high pitched catchword "Walkies!" was her cue to the dogs to start
their walk.

"Wee" = small (me!)
"Walkies" = let's walk!

Wee Walkies doesn't just stop at dogs and dog walking!
I also care for other fur kids like cats, bunnies, hamsters and all
varieties of feathers & fins!

Aside from being a dog-mom to Katie, there's Ringo, a 29 year old
Congo African Grey parrot who has owned me since he was 8.
Twinkie, the parakeet; a Plecostomus catfish named Paco.
:)

A veritable zoo!
